Flexible and Rigid Tubing

Steel and Flexible Tubing

While tubing and hose are sometimes used interchangeably, there is a difference between circumstances where a project would require hydraulic hose versus flexible tubing. Hoses generally have some kind of reinforcement (be it embedded braids, wiring, or multiple walls), while tubing may be flexible or in a fully solid state (such as stainless steel tubing). Industrial tubing tends to be used for gravity flow or lower pressure applications, while hose may be better suited to a high pressure environment.

At Cross Hose and Fittings, we can get you the tubing you need for your project. Our factory-trained and certified hose technicians work directly with you to determine the scope of your project and provide recommendations for the optimal tubing. Then we’re able to provide that tubing to you, expertly sized and appropriately fitted.

Think of Cross as an extension of your own department. We want you to have the right flexible or steel tubing for your project. As well as right fittings or tubing accessories to get up and running (and stay that way). When you succeed, we succeed.

Leak-Free Tubing Products

When it comes to hydraulic, pneumatic, or lubrication systems, some form of tube line fabrication, fitting, and installation is necessary. And when it comes to leak-free performance, expert fabrication and installation are critical for performance and general appearance of the system. Pairing your tubing with the right fittings is what really creates a leak-free seal.

That’s why we always recommend working with a tubing professional. We work with you to find the right tubing and fitting configurations. If you’re working with a tubing application, Cross Hose and Fittings can help.

We work directly with you to help find you the right tubing products that match the accessibility of existing joints, create lines that route properly, provide reliable tube line supports, and are compatible with available fabrication tools.

High-quality steel or flexible tubing has a variety of applications across a range of industries. Including transportation, industrial pneumatic, industrial hydraulic, fluid handling, life science, food & beverage, and many others.

Nylon tubing (also called polyamide tubing) is capable of withstanding higher pressures and temperatures than many other tubing alternatives. For this reason it is also often used as a substitute for metal tubing. The nylon material the tubing is composed of is lightweight and corrosion resistant. This allows nylon plastic tubing to maintain excellent chemical, impact, moisture, abrasion, and dimensional stability.

  • DOT Nylon Tubing
  • High Pressure Nylon Tubing
  • Nylon Coils

Stainless steel tubing is a very versatile tubing material that is used in many structural applications. Due to this usage, it is widely utilized in many industrial sectors. Because of its widespread prevalence, stainless steel tubing sizes can vary significantly depending on the requirements of the application.

Steel and stainless steel tubing are prized for their low-maintenance, corrosion-resistance, and strength. Important to note, with many applications exact sizing is required based on the Outside Diameter and Wall Thickness. That’s why we recommend working with a tubing expert to find the right steel tubing for your application.

Polyethylene tubing (also called poly tubing or PE tubing) is a lightweight, flexible, corrosion-resistant, and durable plastic tubing. It can be used with a variety of applications, including liquid, gas, and fluid transfer applications. It is considered extremely safe, making it one of the most common tubing materials in the world.

Polyethylene tubing is less flexible than polyurethane, but still is able to provide protection from moisture, punctures, and cracks.

Finding the right PE tubing can seem overwhelming. That’s why we recommend working with a NC tube store. Come talk to one of our tubing experts today.

Tubing Supply When You Need It

In addition to standard hose and tubing products, Parflex delivers a wide variety of customized products. Specialty products include bonded, formed and reinforced hose and tubing, tubing harnesses and many other customer specific designs to produce products that speed up installation, reduce scrap, reduce inventory components and improve throughput. Tubing sizes as small as .010″ I.D. and hose sizes up to 8″ O.D. are available.

Parflex has also expanded the tubing line to include PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene), FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene), PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy), and PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) tubing. All are available in a smoothbore design and others are available in beading, heat shrinkable tubing and convoluted tubing. This operates in high temperatures up to 500 degrees F and in cryogenic applications with temperatures as low as -100 °F. Extrusions are resistant to UV radiation and moisture and offer the lowest coefficient of friction of nay material.

Additionally all Parflex tubing products are certified to be free of mercury, heavy metals and other materials that are restricted in accordance with the RoHS directive.
